A list of cocktail party recipes just isn't complete without this fabulous Chocolate Martini recipe.

While the Martini purists may snub this fabulous cocktail, the rest of us know that nothing inspires love quite like chocolate.

This decadent little taste of heaven in a glass is very easy to make and even easier to drink.

While every connoisseur has a different way of making a Chocolate Martini, some with different flavored vodkas, some topped with milk or cream, this one is my absolute favorite version.

Make sure to try all the great variations listed after the recipe, to find your next guilty pleasure.

for a heavenly Chocolate Martini, you'll need:

1 1/2 ounces Godiva®, or similar, dark chocolate liqueur
1 1/2 ounces creme de cacao
1 1/2 ounce Chocolate vodka - if you can't find the chocolate vodka, you can substitute plain or vanilla

here's how you do it:

1. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, with ice.

2. Pour into a chilled martini glass.

3. Garnish with a speared chocolate malt ball, or any of the other suggested garnishes, below

Party tip

For a party, make a pitcher of Chocolate Martinis. Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and set over a large bowl of ice to keep chilled.

Then all your guests have to do to is fill a glass half way with mixer and add their garnish of choice, allowing you time to actually enjoy your own party!

This tip works with any of the Chocolate Martini variations listed.

a Hershey kiss
one or two chocolate truffles, speared on a cocktail skewer
a twist of orange
a strawberry on the side of glass
a shaved chocolate rim on the glass
one or two maraschino cherries, speared on a cocktail skewer
one slice of a Terry's Chocolate Orange

Now that you've sampled the original, try these great variations to find your perfect match:

chocolate orange martini 1 1/2 ounces Absolut Mandrin Vodka, 1/5 ounce Cointreau, 1 ounce Godiva Dark Chocolate liqueur. Shake ingredients in a shaker with ice, strain into chilled martini glass and serve with a skewered chocolate truffle or any of the other suggested garnishes (above).

creamy chocolate martini Top the original recipe (above) with 1 1/2 ounces half & half or cream...mmm good.

peppermint patty martini 1 ounce Vanilla Vodka, 1 ounce Peppermint Schnapps, 1 ounce Godiva Dark Chocolate liqeuer, 1/2 ounce White Creme de Menthe. Shake ingredients in a shaker with ice, strain into a chilled martini glass and serve with a chocolate covered peppermint stick.

mexican chocolate martini 2 ounces Chocolate vodka, 1/2 ounce Dark Chocolate liqueur (Godiva or similar), 1/4 ounce Godiva Mocha liqueur, 1/4 ounce Cinnamon Schnapps. Shake with ice, strain and serve in a glass rimmed with brown sugar and cinnamon.

white chocolate martini 1 1/2 ounces Vanilla vodka, 1 1/2 ounces White Creme de Cacao, 1 1/2 ounces Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur. Shake with ice, strain and serve in a glass rimmed with shaved chocolate.

white chocolate raspberry martini 1 ounce Absolut Raspberry Vodka, 1 ounce Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, 1 ounce White Creme de Cacao, chocolate syrup. Swirl syrup into chilled martini glass. Shake vodka and liqeuers in a shaker with ice, strain into martini glass and serve garnished with any of the suggested garnishes (above).
